Press release ballet

As promised, the Ballet that performs at the Hermitage Theater
is coming back to the Southeast US in 2010

April 4, 2008 - St. Petersburg, Russia—Spokesman, Dr. Michael E. Donnelly is proud to announce the return of the ballet that performs at the Hermitage Theater in Russia after its sensational run of February, 2008.  Soloists will again include headliners from the parent ballet organization which has decided to perform in the United States under the name Russian Seasons Ballet to honor Sergey Diaghilev, the greatest Impresario in Russian Ballet history!  Again the company will draw upon resources from the Mariinski, the Bolshoi, the Mussorgsky, and the Perm ballet theaters, as needed, to insure the highest level of ballet is once again on display in the Southeastern United States.Russian Ballet Seasons

Cities such as Savannah, Charleston, Albany, Atlanta, Mobile, Columbia, Jacksonville, and Charlotte, have already been included in the itinerary for 2010.  Plans have made to expand the tour northwards into the state of Virginia.  The tour of 2008 was the first time the company had ever performed in the United States and it provided free master classes in every city to ballet students 12 years or older.  Scholarships to study in Russia have been awarded to Mrs. Dawn Wolfe of Jacksonville, Florida, Ms. Krista J. Boyer of Ponte Vedra, Florida, Ms. Ashley Hicks of Savannah, GA. and Ms. Gay of Charlotte, NC.

Next year’s tour will also result in some scholarships being offered to study ballet at the Vaganova School or the training facility where the Russian Seasons Troupe trains in St. Petersburg.

Whereas the company offered its Gala Concert in 2008, in 2010, the fare will be a classic Russian Ballet.  Swan Lake is a definite selection and Russian Seasons may bring enough dancers to also perform Giselle so that patrons in any city that has more than one performance date can have a choice as to which performance to attend.

The ballet is still hoping to attract sponsors and patrons of the arts that might want to help underwrite the expense of bringing the troupe to America and for funding the master classes and scholarships.
